Renovated Icebox

GROWING UP IN A FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT HOUSE, Excerpt:

My parents soon discovered that virtually every repair to the Wright house required professionals with
additional – and expensive – expertise. When our refrigerator broke, no novice repairman would touch it. We located (by accident) the eighty-plus-year-old repairman who had originally worked on the unit four decades earlier, converting it from an icebox to a refrigerator. My brother loved our unique refrigerator. It had no lights, just 5 square doors with 3 thick glass windows and two solid compartments.
